Joy to the World!, December 25th

“The earth I tread on is not a dead inert mass. It is a body, has a spirit; is organic and fluid to the influence of its spirit

and to whatever particle of the spirit is in me.”

-Henry David Thoreau, Life without Principle, 1863 posthumously

From the tiniest particle to our vast planet Earth, we are all connected. Let us celebrate our connection with

HOPE, PEACE, LOVE AND JOY!

I close our Advent reflections with these words on this Christmas Day:

“Every time a hand reaches out to help another…that is Christmas.

Every time someone puts conflict aside and strives for understanding…that is Christmas.

Every time people forget their differences and realize their love for each other…that is Christmas.”

-Quote from a Christmas card

Peace on earth and good will to all!

Merry Christmas!

  1. Hey Smrz!
I always enjoy your reflections. I appreciate being able to think anew about so many topics. We have been taught since childhood that Advent is a season of waiting, of daring to hope in the middle of darkness. Sometimes hope feels distant. We hurt, we pray, we whisper for Emmanuel to come close. And then, in a moment we could never make up, the waiting ends. Hope breathes in a manger. The world brightens. Lighting the Advent candle reminds us that we wait again and find ourselves looking for hope. I know it is out there.
